ADC Leaders Consider PRP Amid Leadership Crisis

Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are considering collaboration with the People's Redemption Party (PRP) as the party faces a deepening leadership crisis and multiple court cases that jeopardize its legitimacy ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for membership registration on May 10. The situation has escalated due to disputes involving David Mark's faction and other rival groups, leading to a Supreme Court case set for April 22.

The ongoing turmoil has raised concerns about the stability of Nigeria's opposition landscape, with notable political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso showing interest in the ADC. The PRP's national chairman, Hakeem Baba, has publicly invited opposition leaders to join their ranks, while Lagos State chairman James Adeshina warned that the ADC's crisis poses a threat to opposition unity, potentially weakening democratic competition in Nigeria.
