ADC Considers PRP as Backup Amid Leadership Crisis

As the deadline for party membership registration approaches, opposition figures within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are contemplating the People Redemption Party (PRP) as a fallback option. This decision arises amidst a protracted leadership crisis within the ADC, which is entangled in multiple court cases, including an interlocutory matter before the Supreme Court.

The ADC, led by David Mark, is facing uncertainty regarding its legitimacy ahead of the electoral cycle. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of May 10 for membership registration, creating a de facto cutoff point for new entrants.

The ADC's internal disputes complicate the situation, as the party must submit valid candidate names to INEC within 180 days of the election date. Legal analysts suggest that the Supreme Court's ruling on factional disputes could further deepen the confusion within the ADC.
