ADC Protests at INEC, Demands Chairman's Resignation

On Wednesday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) staged a protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja, demanding the immediate resignation of INEC Chairman Prof. San.

The party accused him of partisanship, claiming his actions could undermine Nigeria's multi-party democracy. This protest is part of a broader leadership crisis within the ADC that began in September and has escalated ahead of the 2027 general elections.

ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola criticized the INEC Chairman for allegedly exceeding his constitutional mandate and aligning with factions within the party. The ADC contended that INEC's previous monitoring acknowledged internal decisions affecting the party's leadership dispute.

They insisted that the judiciary should address these issues rather than the electoral body. The ADC warned of pursuing legal and civic measures if their demands for an apology and withdrawal of alleged offensive correspondence are ignored.
