ADC and Obidient Movement Demand Cancellation of FCT Polls

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Obidient Movement have formally rejected the results of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, specifically the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026. In a press statement issued on Monday, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement described the election outcome as not only a political setback but also a "brazen assault" on the foundations of democracy.

They expressed full support for ADC candidate Dr. Mose Paul, emphasizing the need for a new vision for Nigeria.

Allegations of violence and manipulation were raised, with claims that voter apathy was exacerbated by inadequate notice regarding polling unit locations. The turnout was reported at 7%, and the group criticized the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for contributing to the difficulties faced by voters.

They demand an immediate cancellation of the election results and the conduct of a fresh poll that truly reflects the will of the people.
