ADC Blames Coalition Partners for FCT Poll Defeat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has blamed its coalition partners for its poor performance in the recently concluded 2026 Abuja area council elections. During a press conference, the party's national chairman, Hon.

Nafiu Bala Gomb, expressed disappointment over certain elements within the coalition that operated outside the party's constitutional framework, contributing to the party's defeat. Gomb emphasized that the internal strife and undemocratic behavior among coalition partners led to a lack of support from the international community.

He called on genuine members of the coalition to prioritize the party's interests over self-centered ambitions and urged them to return to various ADC ward offices across the country to strengthen the party's structure. Gomb also distanced the authentic ADC leadership from a faction that held a parallel press conference, criticizing the National Assembly for overstepping its bounds regarding the 2027 Electoral Act.
