ADC promises 50% leadership slots for youth, women

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has promised to allocate at least 50% of leadership positions to youth and women. National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola made this commitment during a ceremony in Lagos, welcoming defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party to the ADC.

Aregbesola emphasized the party's dedication to providing a credible alternative to Nigerians, with its constitution guaranteeing 35% representation for women and another 35% for youth in leadership positions. He stressed the importance of giving voice and power to underrepresented groups in Nigeria's future.

The defectors, including prominent figures like former Lagos PDP chairman Muritala Ashorobi and PDP Vice Chairman Lagos Central Tai Benedict Niyi Adams, highlighted the need for a new era of progressive politics and trustworthy leadership in the country. ADC leaders urged members to focus on grassroots mobilization and action to ensure the party's success.
