ADC Alleges Plans to Arrest Rauf Aregbesola Before Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed alarm regarding alleged plans to arrest its National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, in the lead-up to the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday. This allegation was communicated in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Wednesday.

Abdullahi highlighted a concerning trend of intimidation and misuse of state institutions against opposition figures. The ADC has received credible reports suggesting that Aregbesola could be arrested shortly before the election, which the party views as an attempt to hinder his ability to lead and coordinate election activities.

The ADC has urged the Federal Government and security agencies to exercise caution to avoid actions that could compromise the electoral process. The party emphasized that the situation in Osun is being closely monitored by Nigerians, warning the government against actions that could lead to unrest.

Aregbesola is noted as a former Governor of Osun State and former Minister of Interior.
