ADC Accuses Government of Politicizing INEC and Police

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns regarding the politicization of key institutions, specifically the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police Force, ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC criticized reports that a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), allegedly linked to MC Oluomo, might be utilized by INEC for election logistics.

The party also condemned the attendance of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, at the launch of the pro-Tinubu City Boy Movement, indicating a troubling merger between state institutions and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The ADC warned that such developments could erode public confidence in the electoral process.

They called for explanations from INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, regarding the alleged relationship with the NURTW faction and demanded clarification from the Inspector-General of Police about the commissioner’s attendance at the event.
