ADC Alleges Weaponization of Institutions Against Opposition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed alarm regarding the alleged weaponization of state institutions, specifically the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), against opposition figures in Nigeria. During an interview on Thursday, the ADC's national spokesman highlighted the recent arrest and detention of former Attorney General and former Kaduna State Governor, suggesting that these institutions have become partisan agents.

He criticized the efficiency of investigations into corrupt practices, noting that they seem to intensify when opposition figures are involved. The spokesman pointed out that individuals associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have faced little scrutiny, implying a double standard in the application of justice.

He specifically mentioned the cases of El-Rufai and Malami, questioning their guilt or innocence while asserting that the integrity of national institutions is being compromised for political gain.
