ADC Rejects INEC's Interpretation of Court Ruling

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) interpretation of a court ruling concerning the party's leadership disputes. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi issued a statement on Wednesday, responding to INEC's decision to delist the party's national working committee.

This decision follows a court appeal ruling delivered on March 12, 2026, which directed the party to maintain the status quo amid ongoing leadership crises involving factions led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala. Abdullahi asserted that INEC's interpretation does not accurately reflect the case's facts and expressed concerns about external pressures influencing INEC's actions.

He indicated that the ADC would review its options and announce its next steps soon. Furthermore, INEC has suspended engagement with the party's factions until a final ruling is delivered by the court, emphasizing the need to refrain from actions that could prejudice the case's outcome.
