ADC Reschedules Primaries and Lowers Nomination Costs

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a rescheduling of its primaries and a reduction in the cost of nomination forms. The sale of nomination forms will take place from May 1 to May 4, 2026, with the submission deadline set for May 13, 2026.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesman, confirmed that public screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and 15, 2026, with results to be announced on May 17, 2026. Appeals will be heard on May 18 and 19, 2026, and the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20, 2026.

The primaries for state houses of assembly, house of representatives, and the senate will occur on May 21, 2026, followed by governorship primaries on May 22, 2026. Presidential primaries are scheduled for May 23, 2026, with a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) on May 25, 2026, and a special national convention on May 26, 2026.

The cost of nomination forms has been set at N90,000 for presidential tickets, N30,000 for governorship, N10,000 for senate, N5,000 for house of representatives, and N2,000 for state houses of assembly. The ADC will offer a 50% discount for youth aspirants aged 18-35 and a 25% discount for women and persons living with disabilities.
