ADC Membership Surges After INEC Derecognition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced a significant increase in its membership, with 500,000 new members joining following the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) derecognition of the party. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi stated this development occurred despite INEC's actions, which the party views as a deliberate misinterpretation of an appeal court judgment. During a press conference on Thursday, Abdullahi noted that approximately 40,000 members registered with the party after INEC's decision. The ADC has called for the immediate removal of Joash Amupitan, the chairman of INEC, accusing the commission of unlawful and partisan behavior. INEC defended its decision, stating it was guided by the need to uphold the rule of law as dictated by the court's appeal judgment.
