Over 500,000 Nigerians Join ADC After INEC Derecognition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced that over 500,000 Nigerians joined the party following the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) announcement at 7:00 PM on April 1st, which stated the derecognition of factions within the party. Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of ADC, revealed that this surge in membership reflects a strong public response and confidence in the party, despite facing political pressure.

The INEC's decision, based on a court appeal judgment, was aimed at maintaining order within political parties. However, ADC strongly rejected this move, accusing INEC of misrepresenting the court ruling and acting in a biased manner.

The party's leaders expressed concerns over the implications for democratic principles and called for the immediate removal of Joash Amupitan, whom they deemed unfit to continue as the national chairman of the electoral body. INEC defended its position, stating it acted within the law to protect the democratic process.
