ADC Unveils Three-Point Security Plan for Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a three-point plan aimed at overhauling Nigeria's security system in response to a recent report indicating a 43% increase in terror attacks, with projections of 120 incidents in 2024 and 171 in 2025. According to Abdullahi, the first step of the plan focuses on improving intelligence coordination, emphasizing that Nigeria does not lack intelligence but rather coordination.

The proposal includes establishing a legal mandate for a national intelligence coordination system led by a unified joint terror task force to ensure timely responses and prevent missed warnings. The second element of the plan aims to decentralize the police force, bringing security closer to communities by establishing a multi-layered police structure across federal, state, and local levels, with clearly defined roles and national standards for faster response times across Nigeria's 774 local government areas.

Finally, the ADC intends to shift from a reactionary security approach to preventive measures, including intelligence-driven early warning systems and rapid response units in every state to stop attacks before they occur.
