ADC Says Atiku Can Win 2027 Without Opposition Coalition

The African Democratic Congress believes it can secure victory in the 2027 presidential election without joining forces with other opposition parties. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national spokesperson, made this declaration during a Friday appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today programme, stating that Atiku Abubakar has the strength to defeat incumbent President Bola Tinubu independently.

Abdullahi framed the party's position as both confident and pragmatic. While he acknowledged that an opposition coalition might make Atiku's path to victory smoother, he insisted the ADC does not regard such an arrangement as necessary to win.

The spokesperson emphasized that the party is focused on establishing a robust grassroots presence across Nigeria rather than depending on formal political alliances. The ADC representative positioned his party as offering Nigerians something different from existing political options.

According to Abdullahi, voters are seeking alternatives beyond recycled political arrangements and want a party that directly addresses their economic concerns. The ADC's strategy appears centered on presenting itself as a credible replacement to the ruling APC and other major opposition figures.

This statement comes amid ongoing discussions within Nigeria's opposition space about whether a unified candidacy could strengthen the challenge to the APC in 2027.
