ADC Critiques Tinubu Government Over Budget Confusion

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, for what it describes as significant confusion regarding the national budget and frequent policy reversals. In a statement issued on Thursday by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed concerns over the government's focus on re-election strategies at the expense of effective governance, which has reportedly caused unprecedented damage to the country.

The ADC noted that the 2024 budget has been implemented poorly, with only 30% of the capital budget released and significant delays in disbursement. The government is also criticized for running three budgets simultaneously, with the 2024 budget not yet fully rolled out.

The ADC highlighted that essential sectors like education and health are severely underfunded, while the government continues to borrow aggressively despite record revenue collections. The statement emphasized the dire situation of poverty in Nigeria, where a significant portion of the population struggles to meet basic needs.
