ADC Criticizes NSA and Army Chief for Terrorist Remarks

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly criticized Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, for allegedly referring to terrorists as "brothers" and "sons" in a viral video. The ADC's statement, issued by spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that such language reflects a dangerous mindset that accommodates and tolerates criminal behavior rather than confronting it.

The comments made by the officials, particularly the Chief of Army Staff's reference to surrendering terrorists as "sons," have drawn significant criticism from Nigerians, who accuse the government of romanticizing criminal elements. The ADC warned that when the government begins to frame terrorists in familial terms, it blurs the moral and legal lines necessary for a serious security response.

The party asserted that it is clear why the current approach struggles to protect lives and called for a decisive end to the ongoing violence, stating that bandits and kidnappers will be treated as enemies of Nigeria, advocating for the establishment of a special terror court to ensure swift prosecution.
