ADC Criticizes NSA Ribadu for Soft Language on Terrorists

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Army Chief Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu for their recent comments referring to terrorists as "brothers" and "sons." This criticism arose following a viral video where the Army Chief addressed surrendered fighters. The ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed serious concerns regarding the government's approach to security, stating that such language sends a wrong message at a time when Nigerians expect decisive action against insecurity.

The party warned that framing terrorists in familial terms blurs moral and legal lines and weakens the resolve to confront criminality. The ADC emphasized the need for a clear distinction between law-abiding citizens and those who engage in violence against the state.

They proposed the establishment of a special court to handle terrorism-related cases to ensure swift prosecution. The ADC's statement reflects ongoing frustrations with the current security strategy amidst continued attacks across Nigeria.
