ADC Slams Proposed Salary Hike for Politicians, Calls Move an Insult to Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized the proposed salary hike for Nigerian politicians, calling it an insult to the millions of citizens facing economic hardships. The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) suggested increasing the salaries of the President, Vice President, governors, legislators, and other top officials, sparking widespread backlash.

The ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the move shows a disconnect between the political class and the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians. The opposition party condemned the proposal, highlighting the existing lavish allowances and perks enjoyed by politicians.

The ADC emphasized the need to focus on raising the minimum wage, ensuring fair salaries for civil servants, and strengthening social welfare programs instead of increasing politicians' salaries. The party urged the government to suspend the proposed salary review immediately to alleviate the financial pressure on citizens.
