ADC Schedules Presidential Primary for May 24, 2026

The state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have announced that the presidential primary will take place on May 24, 2026. This decision was made during a special convention aimed at preparing for the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was issued in a statement on Monday, with Ogga Timet serving as the chairman of the ADC state chairmen. The scheduling aligns with the party's constitution and the recent judgment from the federal high court in Abuja.

Additionally, non-elective congresses are set to occur on May 7, with state congresses scheduled for May 8. The ADC has emphasized the importance of conducting these events strictly within the framework of the national executive committee, warning against any parallel congresses or conventions that are not recognized by the party.

This development comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the ADC, following a convention held on April 14, 2026, in Abuja, which ratified a new national working committee amidst leadership disagreements.
