ADC Suspends Congresses in Abia State Amid Court Ruling

The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the suspension of its ward and local government congresses, which were scheduled to take place on April 7 and April 14, 2026. This decision was communicated in a statement sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and was signed by the ADC chairman in Abia State, Obinna.

The suspension follows a recent ruling by an appeal court that upheld the status quo, which has led to the removal of David Mark from the national working committee of the party. The ADC chairman emphasized that the INEC has been informed of the court's ruling, directing the ADC state office not to proceed with the planned congresses.

He also reassured party members that the current tenure of the ward and local government executives in Abia State remains valid and urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and unity during this period.
