ADC to Announce Presidential Candidate After Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) will announce its presidential candidate today after conducting a nationwide primary election. The party's public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that 3.4 million members participated in the voting process.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won the primary in Sokoto State, receiving 68,823 votes out of 69,434 total votes cast. His competitors included former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who garnered 292 votes, and economist Moham Hayatu Deen, who received 319 votes.

The ADC is committed to a transparent electoral process and has dismissed rival factions conducting parallel congresses as insignificant. The party aims to build a nation anchored in justice and equity, emphasizing the importance of peaceful conduct among its members.

The results from Zamfara State were also announced, with Atiku securing 60,500 votes. The ADC is preparing for the 2027 general elections, aiming to strengthen its internal democracy.
