ADC to boycott Kano state constituency poll

The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its decision to boycott the upcoming state constituency poll. The party chairman, Musa Haruna Doguwa, cited previous experiences of violence, vote-buying, and electoral malpractice during reruns as the basis for their decision.

Doguwa accused the ruling party of using thugs to intimidate voters and manipulate the electoral process. The seat in question became vacant following the death of APC lawmaker Halilu Kundila in April last year.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conclude a supplementary election in the state constituency after it was suspended in February due to violence and vandalism. The Court of Appeal had earlier ordered a fresh election after voiding the victory of APC candidate Garba Gwarmai, whose win was challenged by an NNPP candidate.
