By-Elections: Why ADC Performed Poorly in Kaduna, Kano, Anambra, 10 Other States, Analyst Explains

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) performed poorly in by-elections across 16 constituencies in 13 states, including Kaduna, Kano, and Anambra. Analyst Kelly Agaba of Citizens Coalition attributed the outcome to the party's weak performance.

Agaba mentioned a mock election conducted by the coalition that highlighted the need for the ADC to focus on gaining strength for the 2027 general election. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was noted to have become stronger through mergers, posing a challenge for the ADC.

In a separate development, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar dismissed rumors of electoral malpractice, stating that the APC's victory in a federal constituency was authentic. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the APC candidate, Mukhtar Rabiu, as the winner.
