ADC Expands Campaign Council to Include Aregbesola Ahead of 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is preparing to release an expanded list of members for its Presidential Campaign Council as part of its strategy for the 2027 general elections. This new list aims to include senior party officials who were absent from the initial campaign structure announced on September 24.

Among those expected to be included are Rauf Aregbesola, the party's National Secretary, and Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary. Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communications of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, indicated that the current structure is not final and that ongoing consultations will lead to further appointments.

The initial campaign council structure named Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman and Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman, with Austin Akobundu as Director-General. The absence of Aregbesola and Abdullahi raised concerns regarding the involvement of senior ADC members in Atiku's campaign.

Aregbesola participated in ADC activities on the same day the campaign council was announced, urging party members to enhance mobilization efforts.
