Manchester City Found Guilty of 114 Financial Violations

Manchester City has reportedly been found guilty on 114 of 115 counts of breaching the Premier League's financial rules, with allegations dating from 2009 to 2018. The case began nearly eight years ago when German publication Der Spiegel alleged that City attempted to circumvent UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules through backdated cash injections from Abu Dhabi-based sponsors.

City refuted these claims, stating they stemmed from an "illegal hack." Following the allegations, both UEFA and the Premier League initiated investigations. City was initially banned from European competitions for two seasons and fined 30 million euros for serious FFP breaches but successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), resulting in a reduced fine of 10 million euros.

The Premier League's investigation led to a referral to an independent commission over more than 100 alleged breaches, including inaccuracies in financial reporting and failure to cooperate. City maintains its innocence, with manager Pep Guardiola asserting that the club has been "condemned" prematurely.
