ADC to Challenge N150M Campaign Fee in Enugu State

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its intention to take legal action against the Enugu State Government over a newly imposed mandatory N150 million advertising permit fee for political parties participating in the 2026-2027 elections. This fee was announced by the Enugu State Signage Advertising Agency, represented by General Manager Franci Aninwik, during a meeting on Monday.

The agency stated that the fee is part of its statutory mandate to regulate outdoor advertising and ensure environmental aesthetics across the state. ADC Chairman Ugwu Izuchukwu criticized the fee as a draconian attempt to stifle opposition, alleging that Governor Peter Mbah's administration intends to use state resources to dominate the visual landscape and intimidate opposition parties.

Izuchukwu emphasized that the ADC is prepared to use all legal means to contest the fee, asserting that it undermines the democratic process and the rights of political candidates in Enugu State.
