Enugu State Imposes N150m Fee for Political Campaigns

Enugu State has mandated a N150 million advertising permit fee for political parties and candidates participating in the upcoming 2026 local government elections and the 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by Francis Aninwike, the General Manager of the Enugu State Signage and Advertising Agency, during a management meeting held at the agency's headquarters in Enugu on Monday.

The fee is intended to grant political parties the right to deploy campaign materials, including banners, branded vehicles, T-shirts, and handbills, while conducting street campaigns. Aninwike emphasized that every political party and candidate must obtain a campaign permit and pay the N150 million fee to the Enugu State government account.

This measure aims to prevent visual pollution, protect public infrastructure, and maintain professional standards during the election period. Aninwike also warned that failure to comply would result in legal sanctions, and only licensed practitioners are authorized to manage billboard campaigns in the state.
