ADC Clears Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen for Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Screening Committee has approved three presidential aspirants—former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi, and renowned economist Hayatu Deen—to contest in the party's direct primaries set for May 25, 2023. The committee, chaired by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, also cleared 513 aspirants for the House of Representatives, 109 for the Senate, and 80 for governorship positions.

The committee's members include Cid Maduabum as Secretary, Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Hon.

Nnena Elendu Ukej, Prof. David Salifu, and Col.

Abubakar Ali Ciroma (rtd). Imoke stated that none of the presidential aspirants agreed to step down, and the leadership of the party was advised to initiate the process for direct primaries.

Amaechi emphasized his commitment to contesting for the presidential nomination and clarified that he had not purchased a vice-presidential nomination form.
