Adebayo Calls for Leadership Change to Combat Corruption

Adewol Adebayo, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has called for significant political change in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. This demand follows Nigeria's ranking of 142nd out of 182 countries in the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), with a score of 26 out of 100, indicating a persistent corruption problem.

Adebayo lamented that Nigeria has not improved its anti-corruption performance over the past decade, remaining stagnant in its efforts to combat corruption. He argued that corruption is directly linked to the country's socio-economic challenges, particularly poverty and insecurity.

Adebayo emphasized the need for a government genuinely committed to addressing corruption and urged Nigerians to rally behind the SDP to eliminate poverty and insecurity. He highlighted that the CPI score reflects a highly corrupt public sector, underscoring the urgent need for transparency and accountability in governance.
