Adebayo: Tinubu's Government Uses Poverty Politically

Adewol Adebayo, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of utilizing poverty as a political weapon to weaken citizens and prevent them from demanding accountability from the government. In an interview, Adebayo highlighted the widespread suffering across Nigeria as a direct consequence of the government's policies, which he claims have failed to address the economic hardships faced by millions.

He noted that many Nigerians are so preoccupied with survival that they have lost sight of their rights as citizens. Adebayo criticized the current administration for allowing the education system to deteriorate, resulting in a growing number of children out of school.

He argued that this situation makes the population easier to manipulate politically. Adebayo called for civic education to empower citizens to understand their rights and demand good governance, emphasizing that political change will occur when Nigerians reject a culture of dependency and hold their leaders accountable.
