Adebayo Accuses Tinubu of Using Poverty for Control

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of "weaponizing" poverty to control citizens and prevent them from demanding accountability from the government. In an interview, Adebayo highlighted the economic hardships faced by millions of Nigerians, attributing these issues to the failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

He noted that many citizens have become so focused on survival that they have lost sight of their rights and privileges. Adebayo criticized the government's failure to uphold constitutional responsibilities, particularly in managing public resources and addressing poverty and unemployment.

He pointed to the increasing number of school-age children who are not receiving adequate education, with many roaming the streets. Adebayo warned that a poorly educated population is easier to manipulate politically.

He called for civic education to empower citizens to understand their rights and hold leaders accountable, emphasizing that meaningful political change will occur when Nigerians reject a culture of dependency.
