Adeboye Defends Tinubu, Calls for Action on Terrorism

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, defended President Bola Tinubu against criticisms regarding Nigeria's worsening insecurity. Speaking at the Nigeria Faith Hero Award Gala organized by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington on June 23, Adeboye stated that it is unfair to blame Tinubu alone for the country's security challenges.

He emphasized that as Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu is responsible for issuing directives to security agencies to tackle terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. Adeboye acknowledged the significant deterioration of security, citing a recent wave of abductions and violent attacks, including incidents in Oyo State.

He called for military leadership to be held accountable and urged the government to identify and prosecute sponsors of terrorism, including influential individuals and politicians. Adeboye stressed that defeating terrorism requires targeting the financial support for criminal groups and improving intelligence coordination among security agencies to dismantle these networks.
