Pastor Adeboye Defends Tinubu Amid Security Criticism

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, defended President Bola Tinubu during the Save Nigeria Group gala in Washington on June 23. Adeboye stated that Tinubu has done his part as Commander-in-Chief amid Nigeria's deteriorating security situation, which includes increased kidnappings and terrorism.

He criticized the unfair assessment of Tinubu's role, arguing that it is unreasonable to expect the president to personally engage in military operations. Adeboye drew a comparison to U.S. military command, suggesting that a president issues orders rather than participates directly in combat.

He acknowledged the worsening security challenges, which have expanded beyond northern Nigeria. Adeboye also urged Tinubu's wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to give the nation's security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorism or resign.

He called for a united effort to combat terrorism and highlighted the influence of wealthy businessmen and politicians in perpetuating violence.
