Adelabu Reaffirms Loyalty to APC Amid Defection Rumors

Adebayo Adelabu, the immediate past Minister of Power, has publicly dismissed rumors regarding his potential defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied People’s Movement (APM). In a statement released by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, on Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Adelabu clarified that he remains loyal to the APC.

This clarification follows reports that his personal assistant, Ajiboye Akande, had met with APM members to facilitate a defection ahead of the 2027 general elections. Adelabu labeled these rumors as false and unfounded, emphasizing that neither he nor his aide intends to leave the APC.

He expressed his commitment to the party and respect for its leadership, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he regards as a political mentor. Adelabu urged the public to disregard the misleading speculation, describing it as an attempt to create confusion.

He was previously an aspirant in the recent APC governorship primary election in Oyo State but lost to Senator Sharafadeen Ali.
