Adelabu Declares Gubernatorial Intent, Rejects Consensus Plot

On Tuesday, Adebayo Adelabu, the former Minister of Power, met with the Oyo State executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to announce his intention to run for the governorship in the 2027 elections. During this meeting at the APC secretariat in Ado, Ibadan, he firmly rejected any moves towards a consensus candidate, insisting that due process must be followed in the selection of candidates.

Adelabu expressed his loyalty to the party and his commitment to developing the state, amid recent endorsements for Senator Sharafadeen Alli as a preferred candidate for the 2027 race. He dismissed these endorsements as unauthorized and warned against undermining party unity.

Adelabu had previously resigned from his ministerial position to focus on his gubernatorial ambitions, effective April 30, 2026. He assured party members that he would prioritize their interests and work towards inclusive wealth creation if elected.
