Adelabu Declares Intent to Run for Oyo Governorship 2027

Adebayo Adelabu, the former Minister of Power, met with the executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Tuesday to formally announce his intention to contest for the governorship in the 2027 elections. During the meeting held at the party's secretariat in Ibadan, Adelabu expressed confidence in winning the party's ticket and ultimately the governorship.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged to deploy his experience and energy to advance the state. Adelabu emphasized the importance of youth engagement and wealth creation, ensuring that no part of the state is neglected.

He also disclosed his support for President Bola Tinubu, whom he referred to as a father figure. Adelabu's candidacy was backed by the current APC chairman, Chief Mose Adeyemo, who praised his consultative approach.

However, a recent endorsement of another candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, was rejected by Adelabu as unauthorized and potentially undermining party unity. Adelabu resigned from his ministerial position effective April 30, 2026, to facilitate his campaign.
