Adelabu to Resign as Power Minister for Oyo Governorship

Adebayo Adelabu, the current Minister of Power, is preparing to resign from his position to seek the governorship of Oyo State. This decision comes after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

During this meeting, Adelabu presented a comprehensive report detailing his stewardship of the power sector over the past two and a half years. The report highlighted key milestones, including efforts to stabilize electricity generation, improve transmission capacity, and implement reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency across the value chain.

The statement issued by Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu's special adviser on strategic communication, noted that the minister is expected to step down soon, with plans to ensure the ongoing reforms in the sector continue. This move follows a recent decline in power generation linked to gas supply constraints and pipeline repairs.

Adelabu expressed appreciation for President Tinubu's support and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Nigeria's power sector.
