Adebayo Adelabu Shelves Oyo Governorship Ambition

Adebayo Adelabu, the current Minister of Power, has announced that he will not pursue his ambition to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027. Despite earlier consultations regarding his intent to run under the platform of the Progressive Congress (APC), he has chosen to remain in his ministerial role.

The deadline set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for cabinet members intending to contest elections to resign is March 31, 2026. Recently, a resignation letter purportedly from Adelabu circulated on social media, which his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, has dismissed as fake news.

Adelabu has stated that he will continue to focus on his duties as Minister of Power, fully aligning with the President's mandate.
