Akande, Osoba Urge Adelabu to Reconsider Oyo Bid

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, is reportedly advised by former governors Adebisi Akande of Osun State and Olusegun Osoba of Ogun State to reconsider his bid for the Oyo State governorship. This advice comes as he prepares to resign from his cabinet position, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu, who set a deadline of March 31, 2026, for political appointees to resign if they wish to contest elections.

Adelabu has expressed his intention to run for governor in 2027 under the APC platform, having previously campaigned in 2019. However, the recent developments indicate that he may not be the preferred candidate, with current Senator Sarafadeen Alli being tipped as a favorite.

The meeting in Lagos, attended by party leaders, emphasized the importance of party cohesion and the need for Adelabu to align his ambitions with the party's interests to support Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027.
