Adeleke Campaign Alleges Plot to Disrupt Osun Voting

The campaign council of Governor Ademola Adeleke issued a statement on Monday in Osogbo, alleging a plot to end voting by noon in local government areas that are political strongholds of Adeleke. The spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, claimed this move aims to suppress votes and disenfranchise eligible voters.

The council emphasized that citizens must be allowed to vote freely and peacefully, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resist political pressure and adhere to established voting procedures. They stated that no polling unit should close while eligible voters are present.

The council accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of previously attempting to exclude Adeleke from the ballot through legal challenges and of using intimidation against Accord Party members. They called for uniform application of electoral rules across the state and urged civil society, election observers, and the media to monitor the election closely.

The statement stressed that the Osun State governorship election is crucial for the upcoming 2027 general elections and must be free from manipulation.
