Adeleke Campaign Alleges Plot to Arrest 46 Members

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), which is supporting the reelection of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has accused certain individuals of plotting to arrest 46 of its members on fabricated charges ahead of the August 15 governorship election. Kolapo Alimi, the Deputy Director-General of TICC, made this allegation during a press conference in Osogbo, stating that the scheme involves transporting key opposition leaders to Abuja under false pretenses.

Alimi described the actions as an attempt to undermine their campaign and instill fear among voters. He specifically named individuals, including Ola Abbas, Adeboye Opeyemi, and a figure known as “General,” alleging their collaboration with security personnel to intimidate opposition members.

Alimi condemned the involvement of Ola Abbas, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, for allegedly acting outside his mandate. TICC has called for immediate intervention from Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and an independent inquiry into these actions, emphasizing the need for professional and neutral security personnel during the election.
