Adeleke Alleges Security Withdrawal Plot in Osun Election

Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, has expressed alarm over an alleged scheme to withdraw security personnel from polling units and collation centres as the results from the recent governorship election begin to be collated. He warned that such a move would endanger voters and election officials, calling on Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, and President Bola Tinubu to intervene.

Adeleke claimed he received credible information about this directive, which he believes is intended to facilitate attacks by suspected political thugs from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Additionally, he condemned the arrest of Sunday Bisi, the Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, who was detained shortly after voting.

Adeleke alleged that Bisi's arrest is part of a broader intimidation strategy against his supporters to manipulate the election results. He urged for the release of Bisi and emphasized that elections should reflect the people's free choice without coercion.
