Adeleke Calls for Security Intervention Amid Violence

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, condemned a wave of political violence occurring across various parts of the state, describing it as a significant threat to peace and democratic governance. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Adeleke alleged that armed political thugs were conducting coordinated assaults in communities, including Il Ife and Osogbo, resulting in injuries and heightened tension among residents.

He warned that no political objective justifies the loss of lives or the suffering inflicted on innocent citizens. Adeleke appealed to President Bola Tinubu and security authorities, including Nuhu Ribadu, the Inspector General of Police, for urgent intervention to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

He called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, including former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, to embrace peace and refrain from actions that could escalate tensions. Adeleke also directed security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incidents and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted, regardless of political affiliation.
