Adeleke Urges Action Against Political Violence in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has renewed his call to end political violence in the state, emphasizing the need for the arrest and prosecution of suspects involved in violent crimes. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of ICT at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Adeleke accused the Osun State Police Command, led by Ibrahim Gotan, of failing to act impartially in addressing political violence, particularly in light of recent unresolved political murders. He highlighted that there have been three political murders in the past few weeks without any arrests, and he expressed concern over police collaboration with political thugs.

Adeleke urged the police to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the upcoming elections, referencing the peaceful conduct of recent elections in Anambra and Ekiti as standards to emulate. He called for a full investigation into any acts of violence and for those found culpable to be arrested and prosecuted.
