Adeleke Calls for Sanctions Against Oyetola Over Violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has requested economic sanctions and a visa ban against former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and other politicians for allegedly aiding and abetting political violence in the state. During a meeting with a British government delegation led by senior political advisor Wale Adebajo, Adeleke presented a list of activities that promote violence, including attacks by APC-affiliated thugs.

He accused Oyetola of tactfully encouraging violence and reiterated his stance against it, calling for the arrest of suspects without regard to political affiliation. Adeleke emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for violence, urging the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to enforce strict law enforcement.

His comments come amid reports of political killings, including the murder of five Accord Party members and the wounding of 15 others. He stressed that Osun deserves peace and freedom of choice, advocating for similar sanctions against security chiefs who support anti-democratic activities.

The British delegation assured support for a peaceful and transparent electoral process ahead of the upcoming elections on August 15.
