Governor Ademola Adeleke, running under the Accord Party banner, has established a decisive advantage in the Osun State governorship race by capturing 19 local government areas. His principal rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, managed to win only 11 councils.
Vote tallies from all 30 local government areas show Adeleke accumulating 511,067 votes compared to Oyebamiji's 444,815. This translates into a commanding lead exceeding 66,000 votes, positioning the Accord Party contender favorably as the Independent National Electoral Commission prepares to certify official results.
Across various parts of the state, Adeleke prevailed in contests held in Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife North, Ife East, Ilesa West, Iwo, Ede North, Ede South, Boluwaduro, Orolu, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ifedayo, Ifelodun, Aiyedire, Egbedore, Ayedaade, and Ejigbo. Oyebamiji's 11 council victories were recorded, though comprehensive details about which specific councils he won appeared incomplete in several collation announcements.
Trailing both main contenders significantly, Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress obtained just 17,180 votes statewide and finished third. For the All Progressives Congress, these outcomes mark a reversal of fortune in a state where it once wielded considerable political power.
Adeleke himself had previously overcome electoral adversity—his 2022 triumph against Gboyega Oyetola represented a dramatic turnaround in the state's political trajectory. Current collation data, as reported consistently across numerous outlets, demonstrates that Adeleke's local government victories substantially surpass Oyebamiji's territorial gains.
Saturday's election saw collation officials announce outcome figures progressively as vote counts were processed from each of the 30 local government areas throughout the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to formally recognize and certify the results, with the agency continuing to examine all documentation submitted by election officials.
