Adeleke Leads in Osun LGAs in Governorship Election

In the Osun State governorship election, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has taken the lead in 19 of the 30 local government areas announced so far, according to results presented at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Osogbo. The Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, is set to make the final declaration after the collation exercise concludes.

The election, held on Saturday, featured Adeleke and Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the main contenders. Adeleke's strongest performances were in traditional strongholds, including Ede North (35,427 votes), Osogbo (36,480 votes), and Iwo (27,085 votes).

Conversely, Oyebamiji led in 11 local government areas, including Ilesa East and Boripe. The results indicate a competitive race, with close contests in areas like Boluwaduro, where Adeleke received 7,118 votes against Oyebamiji's 7,050.

As of the latest updates, INEC has not formally declared a winner.
