Adeleke Calls IBEDC Meeting Amid Osun Power Crisis

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has invited the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for a meeting following persistent blackouts across major towns in the state. The situation has been exacerbated by a recent rainstorm that destroyed power facilities, leading to significant disruptions in business and residential areas.

In a statement from his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, Adeleke expressed the need for explanations from IBEDC and emphasized the importance of finding both short-term and long-term solutions to the power supply issues. He highlighted the state’s commitment to diversifying energy sources and supporting the renewable energy sector.

Additionally, the governor noted that Osun already has an electricity law in place to regulate the power market and protect the interests of IBEDC's customers. The Osun Emergency Management Agency has begun compiling data on the storm's victims to ensure they receive necessary support.
