Adeleke Summons IBEDC Over Osun Blackouts After Storm

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke summoned the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to address the ongoing blackout affecting major towns in the state. This situation arose following a rainstorm on Saturday that damaged electrical infrastructure in parts of Osogbo.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, Adeleke noted that the prolonged power outages have worsened the power situation, crippling businesses and leading to widespread complaints from residents. He invited IBEDC to brainstorm solutions to the power sector challenges, acknowledging that while the nation faces difficulties, Osun has suffered significantly.

The governor called for short-term solutions and emphasized the importance of diversifying energy supply sources, including renewable energy. He also directed the establishment of an electricity regulatory commission to oversee power generation and distribution within Osun.

Additionally, the Osun State Emergency Management Agency has begun compiling data on the storm's impact and urged affected residents to submit details for possible support.
